Clay vs Crunchy vs Slow-Rise vs Gel: Every Squishy Type Explained
Not sure which squish is your squish? Here's a quick, honest guide to how each type feels.
"Squishy" is really a whole family of very different textures. Here's how the main types feel so you can pick your perfect one.
Clay squishies are soft and moldable, hand-sculpted from foam clay. They're the charming, characterful ones β boba cups, shells, hearts β and they clip onto everything. Great for gentle fidgeting and cuteness.
Crunchy squishies hide sealed foam beads inside a soft skin, so squeezing them makes a satisfying crackle. If you love ASMR and a texture you can hear, this is your type.
Firm & slow-rise squishies are the "watch it puff back" ones. Squish a slow-rise flat and it re-inflates in slow motion; firm ones bounce back fast for a strong squeeze. Weirdly calming.
Sealed gel squishies give you that cool, wobbly jelly feel β done safely, as one sealed gel mass with no loose beads (age 8+).
Mixed-material squishies combine several of the above into one piece, so different parts feel totally different. Maximum novelty.
